The University of Memphis Area is of course the area around the University. Much of the real estate around the area has been converted for school use and a lot of what is left is occupied by people associated with the University. Many upscale homes are in the area and back filling of expensive new homes along with renovation of older ones provides ample opportunity for gracious living. The University of Memphis is largely a commuter campus, thus it has not developed the usual collection of businesses catering to students. Instead, the stretches of Highland and Park along the borders of the campus have an odd collection of bars and a Middle Eastern restaurant called Mo-Jo's, which looks like a fast food place, but isn't.
